Emergency crews are responding to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 77 near Comber.

Highway 77 near Comber has reopened after an early morning crash that killed one person and sent another to hospital.

The stretch of road between Lakeshore roads 309 and 311 were shut down for hours as police investigated the intersection that was once a fiery crash scene.

Robb Meloche was dropping his daughter off in St. Joachim when he saw a huge cloud of black smoke in the sky and rushed home thinking his house could be on fire.

What he found was a transport truck that had crashed with another vehicle, collided with a hydro pole and caught fire.

"It looked like a bomb went off inside the truck," he said. "It looks pretty bad."

Another person involved in the crash has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according OPP Const. Jim Root.
