Crash on Highway 124

Police say the driver of a four-door Dodge sedan is dead after a collision with a transport truck northeast of Guelph on Highway 124. (Wellington OPP)

Const. Joshua Cunningham with Wellington OPP said the two vehicles may have collided head on.

"We haven't ruled out speed, we haven't ruled out impairment of drivers, we haven't ruled out anything yet," he told CBC News.

Police were diverting traffic off the highway at Jones Baseline and Watson Parkway N. Tuesday afternoon.

A team of technical construction investigators are at the scene and the road will be closed until evening.

Wellington Road 124 is a busy highway regularly used by drivers heading north east of the city to Erin. The crash is near Meadowville Garden Centre and the Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club.
