This year's CVSA International Roadcheck inspection event takes place June 5-7 in the U.S. and Canada.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s International Roadcheck is just around the corner, taking place June 5-7 across the U.S. and Canada, and will focus on hours of service.

CVSA announced that this year’s Roadcheck safety inspections will focus on hours-of-service compliance. Inspectors will primarily conduct North American Standard Level I inspections – a 37-step procedure that examines both driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness.

A big difference this year is centered on the recently implemented electronic logging device mandate, and drivers will be asked to provide their operating credentials and hours-of-service documentation. In addition to ELDs, drivers will also be checked for basic safety measures such as seat belt usage and alcohol or drug impairment.

Inspections will still include equipment checks, with officers looking for violations in brake systems, cargo securement, coupling devices, driveline/driveshaft components, exhaust systems, frames, fuel systems, lighting devices, steering mechanisms, suspensions, tires, trailer bodies, wheel ends, and windshield wipers.

If no critical violations are discovered in an inspection, a CVSA decal will be applied to the vehicle to indicate that the truck has passed a decal-eligible inspection conducted by a CVSA-certified inspector.
