LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- ArvinMeritor says going forward it intends to focus on its remanufacturing business under the leadership of Doug Wolma, general manager for ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA).
With a nationwide dedicated sales force, the division will direct an ongoing growth plan of enlarging its portfolio of OEM-specification remanufactured components to its North American customers.??"Our 22-year-young remanufacturing business continues to listen closely to its customers who are expressing specific and direct interest in buying more reman components," said Wolma. "Our fleet and owner-operator customers recognize the value of reman components."
Quality is Key:
One of the key benefits to customers of remanufactured components versus rebuilt is their quality, Wolma said. The remanufactured components have the full corporate resources of ArvinMeritor behind them, in terms of OE engineering, technical field support, as well as extension distribution and cataloging resources. All reman components are brought back to engineering-approved specifications for the customer.
Components like brake shoes, axle carriers, manual transmissions, wedge brake actuators, hydraulic brake cylinders, transfer cases, and trailer axles are remanufactured at the company’s 270,000-sq.-ft. Plainfield, Ind., manufacturing plant.
Furthermore, says the company, remanufacturing components uses fewer raw materials and energy than brand-new components, mitigating the impact on the environment.
ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket group offers replacement parts for the company’s braking systems, drive axles, trailer axles and suspension products in North America and in Europe.
