The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs that took place at a border crossing in British Columbia.
According to July 5 news release from CBSA, the drug seizure occurred on June 3, 2022, at the Aldergrove Commercial Operations in Langley, British Columbia.
Authorities say that a semi truck seeking entry into Canada was referred for a secondary inspection following an initial questioning.
When officers examined the truck’s shipment, they noticed that some pallets appeared to have been tampered with. Further inspection uncovered the brick-shaped objects containing substances suspected to be illegal narcotics.
CBSA says that more than 50 kilograms of suspected cocaine and one kilogram of suspected heroin were seized.
The truck driver and drugs were handed over to the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime (FSOC) Major Projects Team for further criminal investigation.
