Lanes reopen after crash closed stretch of 401 in Toronto

Transport truck hit a barrier and burst into flames, Ontario Provincial Police say

A stretch of Highway 401 in Toronto was closed for hours on Wednesday after a transport truck hit a barrier and burst into flames, provincial police say.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. just west of the exits for the Don Valley Parkway and Highway 404.

The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries, OPP said in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter.

The westbound express lanes of Highway 401 at Highway 404 were closed as police investigated, but the OPP said shortly after 5 p.m. that the lanes have reopened.
