A man is in custody after a dramatic chase on the Trans Canada in central Newfoundland.
RCMP attempted to pull over a transport truck around 6:00 last evening near Gambo, but the driver would not stop.
Police finally managed to stop the rig in Terra Nova National Park just before 6:30 p.m., taking the driver into custody.
Details on possible charges have not yet been released.
RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador are attempting to stop a transport truck travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway, east of Square Pond.
As of an update at 6:15 p.m. the tractor trailer was still heading east through Terra Nova Park. It is white in colour with no trailer in tow.
Police continue to urge drivers to be cautious if they encounter the vehicle.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
