St. Clair Co. deputies seize 370 pounds of cocaine near Blue Water Bridge

St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputies seized more than 370 pounds of cocaine found in a semi-tractor trailer this week in Port Huron, officials announced Thursday.

Authorities also arrested the truck’s driver, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Sheriff’s deputies at about 9 p.m. Tuesday conducted a traffic stop on a semi-truck and trailer on Pine Grove Avenue near the Blue Water Bridge, according to officials.

Deputies searched the truck and found about 370.7 pounds of suspected cocaine inside it, county investigators said. Officials estimate the street value of the narcotics to be about $16.5 million.

They said the seizure is the largest drug bust in the history of the St. Clair County Drug Task Force and the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the suspect is awaiting formal charges in court at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center.

The case comes two months after a Canadian man was charged for allegedly smuggling 266 pounds of cocaine over the Blue Water Bridge and into St. Clair County.

Two years ago, Canadian officials seized nearly 600 pounds of suspected drugs on a truck that entered Canada from Port Huron over the bridge.
