RIZON Electric Trucks Make Canadian Debut

RIZON, Daimler Truck’s latest all-electric vehicle brand, has marked a significant milestone with the arrival of its first shipment of class 4-5 electric trucks to Canada. This delivery is part of RIZON’s strategic push into the Canadian market, which began in April 2024.

Key Highlights

  • First 12 trucks delivered to British Columbia; remaining 10 units scheduled for November.
  • Initial handovers start in January 2025 to customers across multiple industries.
  • New partnership with Globocam expands dealership network in Québec and Ontario.
  • Federal incentive of $75,000 CAD per truck, plus additional provincial incentives available.

The shipment of the first 12 units is part of a larger 22-truck order, with the remaining vehicles set to arrive in November 2024. Following their arrival, the trucks will be upfitted with a variety of bodies, including dry boxes, service bodies, and landscape dumps, before being distributed to customers in British Columbia and Québec. Among the recipients are municipalities, rental providers, and freight companies, signaling RIZON’s ambition to serve diverse sectors in Canada.

RIZON Dealer Network Expands in Canada

RIZON is growing its footprint in Canada by partnering with Globocam, one of the leading commercial vehicle dealerships in Québec. This partnership will introduce three new locations in Québec and Ontario, adding to the existing network of six dealerships in British Columbia.

Demand for Zero-Emission Vehicles

The expansion comes in response to Canada’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, creating a need for zero-emission commercial vehicles. RIZON’s electric trucks aim to meet this demand, offering quiet, easy-to-drive, and emission-free operations. As more companies and municipalities explore sustainable fleet solutions, RIZON positions itself as a practical, environmentally friendly option.

RIZON trucks are eligible for Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) program, which provides $75,000 CAD per truck at the point of sale. Additional provincial incentives may provide up to $75,000 in British Columbia and $100,000 in Québec. This financial support aims to make fleet electrification more attractive and affordable.

RIZON offers four model variants for Canadian customers: e16L, e16M, e18L, and e18M. These models have gross vehicle weights ranging from 15,995 to 18,850 pounds and offer ranges of up to 257 km for the L size variant and up to 177 km for the M size variant. With configurations suitable for dry vans, flatbeds, garbage compactors, and more, RIZON trucks are versatile enough to meet diverse business needs.

Safety, Charging, and Cold Weather Adaptation

Designed with advanced safety features, including Active Brake Assist and Active Side Guard Assist, RIZON trucks prioritize safety for both drivers and the communities they serve. The trucks are also equipped with Level 2 AC and DC Fast Charging capabilities, ensuring flexible charging options for fleet operators.

Given Canada’s harsh winters, RIZON trucks come with cold-weather optimization features, such as electric preconditioning to maintain optimal battery temperatures and heated seats, steering wheels, and windshields for driver comfort. These features are designed to enhance performance during winter conditions, making RIZON trucks well-suited for the Canadian climate.

Quality and OEM Backing

RIZON leverages Daimler Truck’s extensive expertise in commercial vehicle manufacturing, supported by more than 8 million kilometers of electric driving experience. RIZON also offers proprietary connectivity services, a fully integrated safety system, and financing options through Daimler Truck Financial Services. All these factors contribute to RIZON’s strong positioning in the zero-emission commercial vehicle market.

Expanding Canadian Presence

RIZON trucks are exclusively distributed in Canada by RIZON Truck Canada, a subsidiary of Velocity Vehicle Group, known for its experience in zero-emission vehicle distribution. With the arrival of RIZON’s first wave of trucks, the company is positioned to help Canadian fleets transition to cleaner, more efficient operations, aligned with national sustainability goals.

The brand, first unveiled at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, in 2023, continues to expand its influence in North America, contributing to a more sustainable future in the medium-duty commercial vehicle segment.
