The crash caused the semi truck to lose the load of steel pipes, and the driver was temporarily pinned inside the mangled semi truck cab.
While the trapped truck driver was transported to the hospital, police said that he survived the crash with only minor injuries.
“We’re glad to report that the driver of the 18-wheeler carrying steel pipes is doing well and is expected to be released from the hospital without needing an overnight stay—a truly miraculous outcome considering the state of his cab,” said the Lufkin Police Department.
The wife of the driver hauling the steel pipes took to social media to share photos and video of the crash site, as well as a message of gratitude to God for protecting her husband in the crash.
“Feeling very greatful to God that my husband is still here with us!!! About 754 this morning Brian was hauling a load of drill casing to Houston and was around Lufkin and a tanker driver pulled out in front of him. Brian had no where to go. There was a wrecker beside him that had dash cam and got the whole awful crash on video. Brian has been checked out at a local hospital and we are on our way home with just cuts and bruises. The Texas troopers said they have no idea how Brian survived the crash but I do!!! God was not only riding in the passenger seat but was totally wrapped around Brian holding him in his arms!! That is the only explanation as to why I get to bring my husband home this afternoon!!” said Amanda Guthrie.
