CBP officers first came into contact with the 36-year-old male on the morning of March 18; authorities said that the man is a United States citizen and was hauling produce into Canada on a semi truck.

Officers conducted a routine inspection of the tractor trailer and found a loaded 9mm Luger CPX-2 with an additional loaded magazine in the truck’s cabin area.

Additionally, a glass pipe with white residue and a small plastic bag filled with a white substance was found on the driver; the man was taken to Fort Street Cargo Facility for processing.

Testing done on the white powder was positive for methamphetamine.

“Today our officers protected the American homeland at and beyond our borders,” said CBP Port Director Devin Chamberlain. “The roadways our loved ones travel on daily are much safer today because of this apprehension.”

The male driver is now in the custody of the Detroit Police Department along with the gun, ammunition, magazine, methamphetamine, and glass pipe.
