Niagara police looking for suspect in sexual assault, abduction

According to police, the victim was able to escape after being abducted near Drummond Road Tuesday

Niagara Regional Police Service is looking for a suspect in relation to an abduction and sexual assault.

A woman in her 20s was walking Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Drummond Road near Highway 420, police said Wednesday.

“She was approached on foot by an unknown man who had been driving a pickup truck. After a brief conversation he forced her into the truck,” police said in a release.

The woman was then taken to an unknown area, possibly in Chippawa, where she was physically and sexually assaulted, suffering visible facial injuries, police said.

The victim managed to escape and waved down a passing male motorist in a white pickup truck who offered her assistance.

“The victim was treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a local hospital.”

Police described the suspect as a white man in his 20s, with green eyes and blonde hair slicked back into a bun, 5’11 ft. tall, and muscular build.

Police say they have reason to believe the suspect “may have recently been involved in a relationship with a female that ended.”

“The investigation is in its early stages.  Detectives are trying to identify the suspect, and the male motorist who helped the victim.”

Residents who may have been in the area at the time of the abduction or anyone with information are being asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009167.
