How did 2,400 chickens cross the road? With help from Burlington OPP and the public

OPP said truck driver won’t face any charges and all chicks believed to have survived

Why did 2,400 chickens try to cross the road?

Because a driver forgot to close their door, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on Monday around 2 p.m., over 2,000 chicks fell out a commercial truck. The truck was on Ontario Street in Beamsville, headed to the Toronto-bound QEW.

OPP tweeted about the incident online, sharing pictures of people on the side of the road, collecting the bright yellow chicks and placing dozens of them into white baskets before being put back onto the truck.

Schmidt said no charges were laid and he believes all the chicks survived.

By 4:54 p.m. Monday, it had all been cleared up.
