Big rig driver busted for impaired on Hwy. 401

A transport truck driver was allegedly caught with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while hauling a full load across Canada’s busiest highway west of the GTA.

Ontario Provincial Police say an officer from their Cambridge detachment pulled the fully-loaded big rig over on Hwy. 401 at Cedar Creek Rd. – just west of Cambridge – around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Investigation resulted in the 42-year-old driver from Toronto arrested for #ImpairedDriving,” the OPP Highway Safety Division tweeted Wednesday.

The OPP claims the trucker, whose name was not released, was given a breath test and registered over two times the legal limit.

Police also pointed out there is zero blood alcohol content tolerance for commercial vehicle drivers.
