A trucking company in Illinois used earpieces to help CDL test takers cheat in exchange for money, new court documents reveal.
Mykola Datkun, the owner of Maximum Services Inc. in Island Lake, Illinois appeared in a Chicago court on Wednesday, February 21st for charges related to the production of fraudulent identification documents, according to court records.
According to Northwest Herald, between 2019 and 2022, Datkun helped a number of CDL test takers cheat on the written portion of the CDL exam, allowing the individuals to obtain a CDL fraudulently.
The criminal complaint alleges that Datkun organized an elaborate scheme that invited potential truckers looking to cheat on the CDL exam to his trucking business. Datkun and his co-conspirators then outfitted each individual with an earpiece synced to their phone and a microphone to hide in their shirt collar.
The test takers were instructed to secretary of state facilities that offered an audio version of the test, where they would secretly call Datkun and his co-conspirators and leave the phone on while taking the audio test. Datkun and his colleagues would then listen to the test through the secret phone call and provide the test taker with answers through the earpiece.
Datkun and his colleagues collected at least $500 from each person they helped to cheat. The number of people who utilized Datkun’s cheating scheme has not been released.
