A direct hit: Autobus Oberbayern and Bus-Verkehr Berlin take over 24 Mercedes Benz Tourismo touring coaches

Leinfelden-Echterdingen / Munich / Berlin – in April 2024, Daimler Buses handed over a total of 24 Mercedes-Benz Tourismo 15 RHD touring coaches in the city of Neu-Ulm to Autobus Oberbayern GmbH from Munich and Bus-Verkehr Berlin KG (BVB) from Berlin. Each of the two bus companies has acquired 12 of these high-deck touring coaches featuring a high-quality equipment. The coaches will be used as team buses as part of their first transport contract at Europe’s most important sporting event in 2024.

Focus on safety

The two-axle Tourismo 15 RHD high-decker touring coaches are painted a neutral white colour. They are equipped with a comprehensive safety package. In addition to the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Acceleration Skid Control (ASR) and Brake Assist (BA), this

package includes a variety of modern assistance systems for the driver. These include Adaptive Cruise Control (ART) with an additional stop-and-go function as well as the Active Brake Assist 4 emergency braking assistant, Lane Assistant (SPA), the permanently active Sideguard Assist turning assistant, Attention Assist (AtAs) and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPM). In addition to the electrically heated windscreen and exterior mirrors, the LED headlamps for low-beam driving light, high beam, fog lamps and cornering lights also ensure excellent visibility.

The 24 new Tourismo touring coaches are driven by the powerful Euro VI Mercedes-Benz OM 470 engine with an output of 315 kW (428 hp), which is combined with the fully automated Mercedes‑Benz GO 250‑8 PowerShift eight-speed manual transmission.

Comfort on board during the journey

In the passenger compartment, the black and silver coloured seating is highly convenient and  ensures that passengers arrive at their destination feeling relaxed, even on longer journeys.

In addition, a powerful convector heater and the roof-mounted EvoCool Basic air‑conditioning system, which is equipped with an active filter with antiviral function, ensure pleasant temperatures and also protect passengers and drivers from infection on board the Tourismo coaches. A galley featuring a coffee machine and sausage cooker is available behind entrance 2. The on-board toilet is also located in the area of the rear entrance door. Cold drinks on hot days are provided by a refrigerator in the front section.

Entertainment and communication are also well catered for on board the touring coaches: the Coach Infotainment series multimedia system offers the latest generation of media usage during journeys – from high-quality DAB+ digital radio reception to Bluetooth audio streaming. There are 24 USB sockets with charging function in the passenger compartment for the passengers’ mobile devices.
