Truck parking along I-40 in TN will soon be shut down by TDOT “due to trash,” drivers say

Truck drivers familiar with a truck parking lot along Interstate 40 in Tennessee say that the area will soon be shut down “due to trash.”

Truckers on Facebook and the CDLLife App say that the truck parking area on I-40 in Tennessee at mile marker 102 now features signs stating that the area will be “closing soon due to trash.” Electronic signs posted nearby have also reportedly shown the message “closing parking area soon due to trash.” Multiple drivers on both social media sites have commented to confirm that they have seen the signs as well.

CDLLife has reached out to the Tennessee Highway Patrol Public Information Officer, who respectfully declined to comment on the closure. At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20th, Nichole Lawrence, Tennessee Department of Transportation Regional Communications Officer for the area, offered the following insight on the potential closure:

“There was some miscommunication regarding what was posted on the boards, but it has been discussed due to trash. No final decision has been made, and we don’t have a timeline.”
