Hundreds of semi truck drivers drove across Metro Vancouver Sunday afternoon to show solidarity between company owners and drivers over proposed changes to the drayage industry.
The event was organized to protest new licensing of port container carriers and to advocate for fair pay for drivers hauling containers in and out of port terminals.
The rally was intended to take place at Canada Place starting around 12:15 p.m., but the drivers were rerouted by the police. The hundreds of trucks started in Delta in the morning and moved through Metro Vancouver.
Callers to CityNews reported sightings of the trucks at various points throughout the Lower Mainland, from Delta through to Vancouver.
