Police hunt sniper who shot three trucks in South Carolina
Posted on Friday, November 16 @ 07:05:07 CET by Admin

Truckstop Canada News:

Investigators in South Carolina are trying to figure out who fired shots from an Interstate 26 overpass Tuesday night, hitting three tractor-trailers.

The State newspaper reported two truckers suffered minor cuts when bullets shattered their windshields. A third truck was hit in the door. All three incidents occurred Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Calhoun County deputies said that they believe the shots were fired from the Sunny Plain Road overpass near mile marker 134, about 20 miles southeast of Columbia, SC. Officers found .22-caliber shell casings on the overpass.

But aside from those shell casings, Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers told “Land Line Now” that clues are few.

“(We) have no leads at all. All we have are some shell casings and some bullet fragments recovered from one of the vehicles and we have no witnesses, no suspects, no anything right now,” he said.

Summers also said this is the first time that he knows of that something like this has happened in the area.

“There’s been no other reported incidents in any of our adjoining jurisdictions or any more in this county,” he said.

Video shown on WLTX-TV shows a bullet hole through the driver side windshield of one of the trucks, just a matter of inches from the steering wheel.

“This isn’t target practice. This is about an intentional act of violence,” Summers said.
