A trucking dog is in desperate need of a new home after she was found in the cab of a semi truck beside her deceased trucker during a welfare check.
Misha the German Shepherd was found in the cab of a semi truck parked near a retail store near Houston, Texas during a welfare check on the truck driver on July 1st. Unfortunately, the truck driver was found deceased.
Now, Misha is being held at the Harris County Pets animal shelter as none of her trucker’s extended family has come forward to give her a home. Misha has already been at the shelter for about 7 days. The typical shelter policy is a 15 day hold if no new home or foster can be found.
“She possibly confused as well as grieving for him,” wrote one trucker who shared the post. “She’s an old dog but she got the experience and miles. Not like puppy you have to potty train They say old dog can’t learn new tricks but I bet she can. Anyone who will give her a seat. I’m sure she’d be grateful and very loyal.”
Misha is estimated to be about nine years old and weighs 66 pounds. She appears to be a full bred German Shepherd. She is located at Harris County Pets at 612 Canino Road in Houston, TX 77076 under the ID number A639718. Anyone interested in fostering or adopting Misha is encouraged to call the animal shelter at 281-999-3191, press 0.
