Crane tips on bridge lift

A 50 ton truck crane overturned in Port Carlin, Muskoka, Canada last Tuesday, injuring the operator.

The crane, owned by marine equipment fabricator Kropf, was in the process of lifting a snowmobile bridge into place when it overturned. The cause is uncertain, but one report we have received suggests that the ground under an outrigger gave way, we have not been able to confirm that though. The conditions are said to have been very windy at the time, which could also have swung the bridge out of radius.

The operator was thrown from the cab, possibly as he attempted to jump clear and was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. An investigation has been launched and we will update this item if and when we learn more.
